The black triangle contains a gold Sigma in each corner and gold skull and crossed bones in the center. It is lined with pearls and has a black enamel triangle in the middle. Badge The badge is an equilateral gold triangle with a circular indent on each side. New members wear this pin until initiation. There is a Sigma in each corner of the triangle. New Member Pin The new member pin was designed by Lucy Stubbs. The coat of arms can be used for jewelry, stationary, formal clothing, and recognition pins. Below the shield is a banner with Tri Sigma’s motto “Faithful Unto Death” in Greek. It has a shield that features a band with three Sigmas on it, a set of wings with an open circle in the middle, a triangle with a single Sigma, a pair of clasped hands, and a flaming urn. 4 Symbols Coat of Arms The coat of arms was designed by Harriet Hankins and adopted by Tri Sigma in 1902. The eight founders (Margret Lee Batten, Leila Scott, Louise Marie Davis, Sallie Jackson Michie, Elizabeth Watkins, Lucy Wright, Martha Trent Featherston, and Isabella Merrick) wanted to form an organization based on the bond of friendship, which lead to the creation of Tri Sigma.
